We need your help! Israel/Occupied Palestinian Territories and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)

In 1948, in a global effort to ensure that the inhumanity of the Second World War would never happen again, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations. The UDHR is the first comprehensive agreement among nations as to the specific rights and freedoms of all human beings. It is the closest humankind has ever come to agreeing a common global understanding of human rights and obligations.

Amnesty International’s group on Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories in Ireland are creating an internet based forum for dialogue on human rights in the region. Serious human rights abuses continue to occur in Israel and the Occupied Territories. The undercurrent of violence, abuses of fundamental human rights and disregard for international law have become firmly entrenched and relentless. Civilians in both Israel and the Occupied Territories have borne the brunt of the confrontations. Prospects for a just and durable resolution of the conflict can only come through human rights. This project hopes to enhance dialogue and awareness of human rights.
To create this dialogue we need your help and your experience!
Do you have personal stories and photos or thoughts on Israel and the Palestinian Territories and can you connect this story to an article from the UDHR and your experience of that human rights?

We are collecting photos, testimonies, letters and stories from Israelis and Palestinians willing to share their experience, and from all others that live or work in Israel or the Palestinian territories, or who simply have an interest in human rights. These stories and photos will be published on our website and will be open to anyone to comment on.

We are hoping to collect 1,948 submissions as we are celebrating the UDHR.

The Declaration has thirty articles and we are inviting you to pick an article/s and send us your photo, testimony, letter or story relating to that article from the UDHR and use the ‘Submit Your Story’ page to upload your story and images.
Could you please forward this information to your friends so they can also participate in this dialogue!

It is possible to stop hunger and despair, if we focus on what is happening in Africa and South America and Asia and if we pressure our governments to help , not the petty dictators, but the people themselves. Israel has agricultural projects in all these places and it could be joined by the EU and the rich Arab States.

Not handout but help to get themselves on their feet. I have been donating to various Canadian institutions that do just that and one of my clients has set up a charitable organization to build schools and housing for lepers in Kenya. I hope to travel there this summer to see the progress. I am Jewish and he is a born again Christian. That is a co-operative effort.

That is what I would suggest that this group endeavour to accomplish. Set up a trust fund so that money and clothing and textbooks can be given to the most needy, wherever they are. That would show out humanity and our commitment to human rights.

I would be prepared to use my client as a conduit for that. He is using a sizeable amount of his own money for that purpose.

I would welcome anyone that is prepared to do that as soon as the project gets off the ground.

Dear hanem5 a project that finds the presence of the common people, their wish and their help in first person, with the correct guarantees as you you explain it is something that realizes indeed some good for the populations that suffer, that don't have house, water, food and suits.
It is not an investment where for a profit is waited, they are not of the titles in purse for our comfort but it is to understand that a world is not equitable where people that suffocate are and other zones of the earth that exploit the wealth without helping.
What your client and you do they are small oases in a desert and if there were a lot of more oases there would be a great hand that lifts who is fallen in the misfortune.
When I asked to some people that I have been knowing online for a lot of time to come in this space of internernet to speak of the world, to understand and to know other cultures, to give a contribution I have received an answer: - But do we already have so many problems, because we have to think about those of the distant people? I believe that if the world as something was seen of separated, if he/she was seen how a ground with some confinements would never help him anybody.

The world, every small part of it... are us!
We are us his/her children that die of AIDS, we are us the women that cry his/her children, we are us the people that die in sea to follow a dream.
Here we have to understand this, not to always see the things with egoism but to embrace together this planet.
If you want you can open a small group in this site to bring news, applications, images of the project where you participate your client and you.

An embrace
Daniela

I was reading through the comments and find it interesting that we take time to dispute who is deserving of human rights, and who is not.

If we are born to this world, we own the right to be here. This said, every living being is deserving of human rights. The politics which have scarred us as a species should never be reason to deny this truth.

If you take history back to circa 600 BC, you find the excuses used today for separation, disconnection and judgement against some over others, are our greatest travesty, and in fact the reason we fight amongst ourselves, however reason-less it is.

It's time for us to let go of ancient and ill conceived angers and begin again to see ourselves as equals, no matter the name of our Gods. None of us know the truth about where our wars began. Only a rare few, if that, know our true history. All of it has been manipulated, conveniently interpreted, forged.....

We need to stop hating, reasoning, rationalizing... and simply remember, we are all human and bound by our humanity. My humble opinion.... albeit. eve

What do you think about?

Many people feel that killing convicted murderers will satisfy their need for justice and/or vengeance. They feel that certain crimes are so heinous that executing the criminal is the only reasonable response.
I think that permitting premeditated murder is totally unacceptable, even if committed by the state.
Capital punishment lowers the value of human life as seen by the general population and brutalizes society. It is based on a need for revenge.
