The object of this group is to network people their friends and the skills they share in order to help promote and manifest PEACE, and put on the first PEACEfestUK 2009.
The main stay of something like this is networking, persistance of vision and a national/international Co-operative Alliance stance.

Though this is the central HUB for PEACEfestUK you should be aware that it is one of many world wide movements uniting in the defence and sharing of PEACE

(Mahatma Gandhi)

Peace is a seed that we can cultivate,
it is born in our heart and it is not struggle, it is not defended.

Simply peace is born from the compassion,
to see and to embrace the suffering - our and of the others -
because in every living being it is present a reflex of ourselves.

Peace is dialogue, sincerity and not attachment.

To know how to share the resources of the earth in the respect,
of the human rights and animals it is to make of this place a living being
that it is in Harmony and Love.

An embrace
Daniela

We must not stop fighting for world peace
Man by nature has always need resources, energy, power, which unfortunately is not compatible with peace now in a small planet like ours but with a serious commitment of all is certainly possible to limit the damage of this contorta human nature .

About International Day of Peace, September 21

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date. It was established by a United Nations resolution in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the General Assembly. The first Peace Day was celebrated in September 1982.

In 2002 the General Assembly officially declared September 21 as the permanent date for the International Day of Peace.

By creating the International Day of Peace, the UN devoted itself to worldwide peace and encouraged all of mankind to work in cooperation for this goal. During the discussion of the U.N. Resolution that established the International Day of Peace, it was suggested that:

"Peace Day should be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples…This day will serve as a reminder to all peoples that our organization, with all its limitations, is a living instrument in the service of peace and should serve all of us here within the organization as a constantly pealing bell reminding us that our permanent commitment, above all interests or differences of any kind, is to peace."

Since its inception, Peace Day has marked our personal and planetary progress toward peace. It has grown to include millions of people in all parts of the world, and each year events are organized to commemorate and celebrate this day. Events range in scale from private gatherings to public concerts and forums where hundreds of thousands of people participate.

Anyone, anywhere can celebrate Peace Day. It can be as simple as lighting a candle at noon, or just sitting in silent meditation. Or it can involve getting your co-workers, organization, community or government engaged in a large event. The impact if millions of people in all parts of the world, coming together for one day of peace, is immense.

International Day of Peace is also a Day of Ceasefire – personal or political. Take this opportunity to make peace in your own relationships as well as impact the larger conflicts of our time. Imagine what a whole Day of Ceasefire would mean to humankind.

Plan a Peace Day Event – Spiritual
Many spiritual traditions are deeply involved in peacebuilding work and already observe International Day of Peace in their community. By focusing the service of the day on peace, or encouraging members to observe Peace Day, spiritual organizations can help spread the message. Individuals can observe the day by meditating on peace, praying for peace or participating in the minute of silence for peace at noon on September 21. Peace Day is also a good opportunity to reach out to other spiritual traditions and come together for a day of interfaith discussion and cooperation.

Examples of Peace Day events:

Do a meditation for peace
Engage in a minute of silence at noon on September 21
Organize an International Day of Peace Vigil (www.idpvigil.com)
Organize and interfaith service/gathering at your place of worship
Prayers for peace (all faiths)
Organize a "Choir for Peace" concert
Use universal invocations/prayers, such as The Great Invocation – a mantram for the new age and for all humanity, and "May Peace Prevail On Earth"
Plant a rock for peace (www.plantingrocksforpeace.org)

The Great Invocation
A Mantram for the New Age and for all Humanity
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Many religions believe in a World Teacher or Saviour, knowing him under such names as the Christ, the Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi, the Bodhisattva, and the Messiah, and these terms are used in some of the Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish versions of the Great Invocation.

Men and women of goodwill throughout the world are using this Invocation in their own language. Will you join them in using the Invocation every day - with thought and dedication?

By using the Invocation and encouraging others to use it, no particular group or organisation is sponsored. It belongs to all humanity.

What do you think about?

Many people feel that killing convicted murderers will satisfy their need for justice and/or vengeance. They feel that certain crimes are so heinous that executing the criminal is the only reasonable response.
I think that permitting premeditated murder is totally unacceptable, even if committed by the state.
Capital punishment lowers the value of human life as seen by the general population and brutalizes society. It is based on a need for revenge.
